The 3rd expansion, Knowmadic, has been released + v5.1.1 changes
Knowmadic Expansion (3rd Ex) Release Notes
The 3rd expansion of Galdor's Grip focuses on movement and manipulation of the primary sources of power for each character; Binding Stones for Galdor and Figments of Feragot for Feragot. Of course, the expansion also brings new threats and alternative sources of power.
With the new expansion comes a new deck attribute and event trigger. Cards with a Forked Path () attribute are double-sided. During setup, you choose which side will start face up. Cards with a Start of Game event () trigger before taking your first turn.
The card featuring this new attribute and event trigger is Galdor/Feragot. Choosing Galdor typically lowers the game's difficulty since adding another card to the deck (increasing the default deck size from 18 to 19 cards) will most likely increase your scoring opportunities and/or ability to manipulate the deck. Choosing Feragot raises the game's difficulty since you'll need one additional ⭐ in order to win the game (increasing the winning threshold from 9⭐ to 10⭐). Additionally, Galdor can teleport to Binding Stones and Feragot can summon his Figments of Feragot to him.
The card's color scheme has been inversed (dark border) to further distinguish these two prominent characters from all surrounding manifestations within Galdor's mind.
v5.1.1 Changes
All PnP files have been converted from a 3x3 minimal bleed layout to a 2x3 extra bleed layout for higher quality printing and cutting results.
All Sets
- All instances of "If this card was already faceup" have been changed to "If this card was faceup prior to this turn" for more clarity. Existing cards affected by this change are; Figment of Feragot 1-5 (CS) and Orzumal's Eye (2nd Ex).
- All instances of "If this side was already active" have been changed to "If this side was active prior to this turn" for more clarity. Existing cards affected by this change are; Galdor's Grip (CS), Figment of Feragot 1-5 (CS), and Orzumal's Eye (2nd Ex).
Core Set
- Added a value (1) to the the upside-down side of Galdor's Grip to eliminate the rare occurrence of first encountering the card after all four Binding Stones are already revealed and the next card is facedown (or has no active value) resulting in an instant, unavoidable loss.
- Changed Deeproot Depths' ability from "Moving to Bottom of Deck - You may rotate any other eligible cards (⟳) moving ot the bottom of the deck." to "Moving to Bottom of Deck - You may rotate any card moving to the bottom of the deck that has a ⟳." This change was made to provide more clarity of what cards were eligible to be rotated. This change also allows Deeproot Depths to rotate itself now.
- Changed Vault of Avarice's ability from "Moving to Bottom of Deck - If the sum of adjacent cards moving to the bottom of the deck is 7, rotate this card" to "On Top of Deck - If the sum of the next two cards in the deck is 7, rotate this card". This change was made because this card more than any other card from the Core Set received a lot of questions about how its ability worked. To avoid the confusion, I changed the effect without losing the intent and flavour of the ability.
Knowtional Expansion (1st Ex)
- Changed Everhue Tree's name to Barinda's Bouquet (same art).
- Changed Barinda's Bouquet's ability from "Moving to Bottom of Deck - If this card has the same number of cards on each side of it, rotate it" to "Moving to Bottom of Deck - If the cards moving to the bottom of the deck have four unique values among them, rotate this card". This change was made because just like Vault of Avarice for the Core Set this card more than any other card from ALL sets received a lot of questions about how its ability worked. To avoid the confusion, I completely changed the effect. And since the new scoring objective should be easier to complete, its reward has been reduced from 2⭐ to 1⭐.
- Changed Felmyst Pits' name to Gnarlroot Glade.
- Changed Felmyst Pits' art to something that better suited Gnarlroot Glade.
Note: Unfortunately, due to the number of changes to the cards since v5.0 the gap between the English files (now v5.1.1) and non-English files (v5.0) has become too large. So, I have temporarily disabled the Spanish and French versions of the PnP files until the translators have updated their files to reflect the most recent version of the game. Once these files have been updated, I will enable them once again!
