Merchant's Solitaire
A downloadable game
In this game, you assume the role of an aspiring merchant. Having recently joined the Merchants’ Guild, you find yourself still within your evaluation period. Consequently, they are monitoring your transactions and gathering customer feedback to ensure you uphold their reputation. This means that every customer interaction holds the potential to either bolster or tarnish your standing with the guild, necessitating effective utilization of your customer service and inventory control skills. Upon the conclusion of the evaluation period, the Council will render its final verdict, presenting an opportunity for full membership and a heightened position within the guild, while also carrying the potential risk of removal.
All you need to play is a standard deck of playing cards and a copy of the game rules below.

Am I playing wrong? Having to match the value precisely terminates a lot of my games before they even start. Can I offer -more- than their value, not taking favour into account?
That is the intended difficulty of having to perfectly match values for a trade. Perhaps you had a string of bad luck? I'd have to see your board state when you have a loss. I just updated the rules to make starts a little more forgiving since you start with 3 Guild Standing instead of 0, but makes the game a hair more difficult overall since you have less total cards in your Inventory.
Favour was an old version's terminology (2023), have you downloaded a more recent version?
I wish I'd had this game when I was a kid. It's really clever, fast-paced, and fun. Thanks for this!
Hi, I'm having a bit of trouble understanding the written rules (v. 24.05.01). It says under '2. Your Offer' that your value should match the customer's. However, the example under '3. Verify Trade' says you offer 10 + 6 + 3 (= 19) and the Jack brings a 5 (11 + 5 = 16). This means your offer is 3 higher than the customer's, right? So they don't have to match? I feel I'm misunderstanding something here, but I'm not sure what. Thanks for any insight.
The 3 matches the Used Item’s Type so it counts as $0 (free) from the Exclusive Offer rule.
While a valid trade, that example was from a time when you always had to trade three Items, where now it really only makes sense to trade a free Item when it will also result in Guild Standing. So, I will change that part of the scenario to avoid confusion.
Oh! I missed the part where the type matched. It makes sense now. Thanks for the explanation and clarification.
Really liked this one. Easy, fast and enjoyable.

Thanks! Yeah, it’s a fun casual little game with some options to adjust difficulty.
